As Hurricane Florence gains strength off the Atlantic Coast–and shows a path headed straight for the Carolinas–UNC announced Sunday evening that its athletic staff is closely monitoring developments with the storm ahead of the Tar Heels’ scheduled home football opener vs. UCF this Saturday.

Final decisions will be made after consulting with the proper state, local and campus authorities.

The university also stated that a series of meetings and conference calls will be held each day leading up to the storm in order to determine the proper actions and responses.

No changes have been made at this point to the school’s athletic schedule.
