Fresh off a thrilling fourth-quarter comeback win over South Carolina in Saturday’s season opener, the UNC football team racked up three ACC Player of the Week honors on Tuesday–demonstrating the immense progress the program has made over the offseason.

Quarterback Sam Howell threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns–both of which came in the fourth quarter following drives of 95 and 98 yards, respectively. This earned him the ACC Rookie of the Week award for Week One.

Junior safety Myles Wolfolk intercepted two passes in the closing minutes of the game to seal UNC’s victory, and picked up the ACC Defensive Back of the Week honor for his troubles.

The third, and final, weekly award winner from the Tar Heels was senior left tackle Charlie Heck–the league’s Offensive Lineman of the Week. The Kansas City native had six knockdowns, allowed no sacks and missed no assignments while also helping pave the way for a UNC rushing attack that gained 238 total rushing yards.
