The UNC baseball team may have seen its 11-game win streak come to an end over the weekend, but a series victory over NC State–paired with a huge mid-week win over South Carolina–helped the Tar Heels jump one spot to the No. 4 ranking in the most recent Top 25.

It’s the highest UNC (29-7, 14-4 ACC) has been ranked all season long, as it looks to put an end to a two-year NCAA Tournament drought.

Pitching has been the strong point for head coach Mike Fox’s squad throughout the season, but a recent offensive outburst has helped the Tar Heels assert itself as one of the nation’s most dominant teams.

Only Oregon State, and ACC Atlantic Division leaders Louisville and Clemson are ahead of UNC in this week’s poll.

Texas Tech is the fifth, and final, squad among the top five.

The ACC has five teams in the overall top 25, as No. 18 Wake Forest and No. 19 Virginia check in a few spots behind the big dogs at the top of the rankings.

Only the SEC–with staggering eight schools in the mix–has more top 25 teams.
