With the NBA Draft Combine–scheduled to be held in Chicago from May 16-20–fast approaching, a list of the 69 players invited was released over the weekend.

Notably missing from the list, however, are UNC seniors Joel Berry and Theo Pinson–as well as junior forward Luke Maye, who announced his intentions a little over two weeks ago to enter the draft process without hiring an agent.

Only 60 selections are made over the NBA’s two-round draft, but the combine will also be missing the top European prospects.

Not participating in the combine certainly won’t preclude any player from eventually carving out a successful professional career, whether it be in the NBA, the NBA G-League or overseas.

While Maye is widely expected to return to Chapel Hill for his senior season, Berry and Pinson, however, will each miss out on crucial face-to-face time with NBA teams. Not only that, being unable to perform in drills as fringe prospects could also hinder their chances of being drafted.
