UNC senior long snapper Kyle Murphy was one of 106 players from the Football Bowl Subdivision named Thursday to the watch list for the Wuerffel Trophy–which is awarded annually to the player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

The Charlotte native, who is entering his fourth year snapping the ball on field goals and extra points for UNC, also actively participates in outreach opportunities at the school.

One notable extracurricular activity of Murphy’s is coordinating a student-athlete pen pal program that connects members of all 28 of UNC’s sports teams with local elementary school kids.
