The UNC football team finally got some good news this offseason, when it was announced Friday afternoon that junior running back Antonio Williams–who transferred to Chapel Hill from Ohio State earlier this year–was cleared to play for the Tar Heels in 2018.

Although NCAA rules mandate that non-graduate transfers have to sit out a year when transferring to another Division I institution, Williams was granted a hardship waiver in order to move closer to his hometown of New London, North Carolina.

In two seasons on the field with the Buckeyes, the former four-star recruit carried the ball a total of 63 times for 318 yards and three touchdowns.

Adding Williams to the mix will bring added to depth to a UNC backfield that already returns last year’s top two contributors in junior Jordon Brown and sophomore Michael Carter.
