The UNC men’s soccer team may have played its final game of the season on Tuesday night in Chapel Hill, getting eliminated from the ACC Tournament in the first round by Syracuse after falling 5-3 in a penalty shootout.

Both teams had been scoreless through regulation and two extra time periods prior to the shootout. The Tar Heels had their first penalty of the shootout blocked by goalkeeper Christian Miesch, while Syracuse made each of its five chances at the spot to claim the win.

UNC fell to 7-7-4 overall this season with the loss, which likely is not a good enough record to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

Syracuse, meanwhile, improves to 7-5-5- with the victory.
