A strong defensive performance from the 10th-ranked Louisville Cardinals helped guide them to a 1-0 upset victory over the No. 4 UNC men’s soccer team on Sunday at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary in the ACC Tournament Championship Game.
The Cardinals (11-4-3) scored the only goal of the match in the 29th minute when Cherif Diaye put the ball into the back left corner of the net on an assist from teammate Tate Schmitt.
UNC (14-3-1) dominated the second half–out-shooting the Cardinals by a 6-2 margin–but was unable to convert any of its chances into goals.

Now, the Tar Heels will have to wait until Monday at 1 p.m. to find out their NCAA Tournament destination–as they look to make a third consecutive College Cup appearance.
