Despite building a 3-1 lead in the second half on Saturday at Dorrance Field, the 18th-ranked UNC men’s soccer team was unable to hang on to it–ultimately falling 4-3 to the Syracuse Orange.

Syracuse scored the first goal of the match in just 42 seconds, but UNC (7-3-2) received goals from Alex Rose, Jonathan Jimenez and Santiago Herrera over the course of the next 56 minutes to take the commanding lead.

The Orange refused to quit, though, and scored three straight goals over the final 20 minutes to steal the win. Ryan Raposo played a part in all four of Syracuse’s goals, scoring three and assisting on the other.
