Sports Illustrated released its 2018-19 ACC men’s basketball preview on Tuesday, and listed UNC senior forward Luke Maye as its pick for the conference Player of the Year award.

Last season was a breakout campaign for the former walk-on from Huntersville, North Carolina, who averaged 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game in his first season as a starter for the Tar Heels.

The versatile 6-foot-8 forward also gave UNC the ability to play a bit more perimeter-oriented by shooting 43 percent from three-point range–all while still being able to defend opposing teams’ big men on the other end.

Maye will have plenty of help around him in the Tar Heel lineup this year, but his skill-set should still allow him to put up similar statistics.

In Sports Illustrated’s preview, the Tar Heels were picked to finished third in the ACC behind Duke and Virginia.

UNC will officially open its regular season on the road at Elon on Nov. 6.
