Redshirt sophomore receiver Khafre Brown announced his intension to enter the transfer portal on Monday.

After being reported by Inside Carolina, Brown confirmed the news on his personal Twitter account.

Brown, who’s played with the UNC football program for the last three season, arrived to Chapel Hill with a reputation of being a speedy deep threat. After sitting behind a talented receiving corps the last two season, many tapped the 6-foot, 185-pound receiver as a potential break-out star for the Tar Heels offense.

That, however, did not pan out, as Brown caught just one pass during the 2021 season before his announcement. It was a 75-yard touchdown against Virginia on September 18 — but Brown dropped three of his five other targets and did not play during Carolina’s win against Miami on Saturday.

Brown is the younger brother of former UNC wide receiver Dyami Brown, who was drafted by the Washington Football Team this offseason after a stellar three-year career at UNC.

The younger Brown finishes his Carolina career with 16 catches for 402 yards and three touchdowns.
