GREENSBORO – North Carolina didn’t take the prize for most All-ACC honors according to the coaches despite wrapping up the regular season and Coastal Division titles. However, juniors Colin Moran and Kent Emanuel received top honors.

Moran was named Player of the Year as he led the Tar Heels all season long at the plate. Moran is batting better than .375 on the season, and he leads the country in RBIs with 83, which is also a UNC single-season record.

Emanuel was named Pitcher of the Year. His nine wins ties a single-season career high while throwing a 2.28 earned run average. He currently leads the ACC in innings pitched with 102.2 in 14 appearances—all but one of which he started.

The Tar Heels did place five players on the all-conference lists. Senior first baseman Cody Stubbs was also named First Team All-ACC. Stubbs joins Moran among the top ten players in the country in RBIs with 66.

This season marks the first time since 2009 that three Tar Heels earned first team honors.

Two Carolina freshmen were named All-ACC Second Team. Skye Bolt captured an outfielder spot despite missing 17 games with a broken foot. He is batting better than .350 and has tallied ten doubles, six home runs, and 44 RBIs. Bolt is the first Tar Heel freshman to be named All-ACC since Colin Moran in 2011.

Relief pitcher Trent Thornton earned one of the four pitcher spots on the Second Team. He’s throwing better than a 1.50 ERA in 60.2 innings and is 8-1 with six saves in 21 appearances.

Virginia placed six players on the All-ACC teams; Florida State and Georgia Tech came in tied for third with four each.
