Giovanni Montesdeoca scored twice Friday night at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary to lead the No. 3 UNC men’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Clemson Tigers.

Montesdeoca opened the scoring in the 21st minute when he sent home a beautiful cross from teammate Nils Bruening, and then added his second goal of the match when he headed in a cross from Milo Garvinian in the 58th minute.

The two-goal performance means that Montesdeoca now leads UNC with five goals this season.

Defensively, the Tar Heels (7-1, 3-0 ACC) held the Tigers (4-4-1) to just one shot on goal as they extended their shutout streak to a whopping 383 minutes–a streak that goes back to Sept. 8 against Pitt.
