The fifth-ranked UNC men’s soccer team got a late goal from Santiago Herrera on Tuesday night, which ultimately helped the Tar Heels secure a 3-3 tie on the road against the No. 3 Clemson Tigers.

It was a rematch of a game won by UNC the first time around, a 1-0 victory on Oct. 9 where Fillipo Zattarin scored in the closing seconds.

Following a scoreless first half on Tuesday, Clemson (5-1-1) took a 2-0 lead in the 59th minute when Kimarni Smith scored a pair of goals just 36 seconds apart.

The Tar Heels (2-1-1) rallied to tie things up with goals from Key White and Lucas del Rosario, before Clemson jumped back ahead on a goal by Grayson Barber in the 79th minute.

Refusing to give up, UNC battled back again when Herrera found the back of the net with under three minutes left in regulation.

A pair of scoreless overtime periods came after that, with each side picking up its first tie of the season.
