UNC junior first baseman Michael Busch was named a Preseason Second Team All-American on Tuesday by established amateur baseball website Perfect Game following a breakout season last year.

Busch helped lead the Tar Heels to their first College World Series appearance since 2013, while hitting .317 and leading the team in runs scored (70), home runs (13), RBI (63), slugging percentage (.521), walks (55) and on base percentage (.465).

He was also named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament’s Chapel Hill Regional for hitting .636 with nine RBIs in the Tar Heels’ three games there.

UNC begins the 2019 campaign at home on Feb. 15 when it kicks off a three-game non-conference series against Xavier.
