The No. 3 ranked UNC men’s tennis team began play in the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Friday night at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill with a 4-0 victory over the Utah Utes.
With the win, the Tar Heels improved to 3-0 on the season and earned a spot in the weekend’s championship match on Saturday against Duke.
UNC did not drop a set in either doubles or singles competition against Utah on the way to the win.
“Utah has got a good team and we’re happy to be moving forward,” UNC head coach Sam Paul said afterwareds. “We’ll have a big challenge tomorrow in playing Duke. We hope we’ll have a great Tar Heel crowd come out and support our team and watch some outstanding college tennis.”
