Playing at home at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, the No. 3 UNC women’s tennis team defeated the VCU Rams 4-0 on Saturday as part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend Semifinals.
As a result, the Tar Heels (4-0) will face Princeton on Sunday in the championship match–with the winner earning a spot in the ITA National Indoor Tournament, which UNC won last year.
UNC clinched the doubles point against VCU with a pair of 6-1 victories from the duos of Jessie Aney and Alle Sanford, as well as Makenna Jones and Cameron Morra.
From there, the Tar Heels picked up three straight singles wins in straight sets to clinch the match. Those wins came from Aney, Morra and Sara Daavettila,
