A dominant 4-0 shutout over the Princeton Tigers on Sunday morning at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill earned the No. 3 UNC women’s tennis team a chance to defend its title in the upcoming ITA National Indoor Tournament.

The Tar Heels are one of 16 teams to qualify for the event, which takes place Feb. 8-11 in Seattle.

UNC (5-0) had very few problems advancing to this point, as neither Princeton nor VCU–the two teams the Tar Heels beat this past weekend to earn their place–was able to put together a serious challenge.

A pair of 6-4 victories in doubles play gave the Tar Heels a 1-0 lead on the team scoreboard, before a trio of singles wins in straight sets from Jessie Aney, Alle Sanford and Makenna Jones sealed the deal.

Before heading to Seattle for the tournament, UNC will get ready by facing No. 2 Vanderbilt in its next match on Saturday at 1 p.m.
