With a final 54-hole score of 8-over-par following Sunday’s final round, the UNC men’s golf team finished in seventh place at this weekend’s Rod Myers Invitational at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham.

In the individual tournament, Tar Heel sophomore Ryan Burnett took home third place with a final score of 9-under-par. Burnett led the event heading into the final nine holes, before ultimately relinquishing the lead.

“Ryan (Burnett) plays with a lot of confidence.,” UNC head coach Andrew DiBitetto said afterwards. “He’s always been a really good ball striker. Right now, the putter has been pretty good to him, but it goes back to practice. He’s been a little bit more focused, had a little bit more purpose to his practice. Obviously, he’s been seeing some positive results, which is fantastic for him and good for the team.”

Wake Forest (-22) won the team tournament, with Duke finishing three strokes behind in second.

UNC-Greensboro’s Jonathan Brightwell was the top individual with a final score of 11-under-par.
