The UNC volleyball team came up on the wrong end of a 3-0 (21-25, 21-25, 13-25) scoreline on Sunday in East Lansing in a blowout loss to the Michigan State Spartans.

It marks the third time in three tries that the Tar Heels (1-6) have lost to opponents from the Big Ten this season, as Michigan state improves to 5-1 overall with the victory.

Parker Austin led UNC with nine kills in the match, but the team’s putrid .041 hitting percentage ultimately proved to be the difference.

The Spartans were able to close out the first two sets–which were played fairly close–before blowing the Tar Heels out in the third set. Michigan State’s final hitting percentage was nearly 20 percentage points higher that UNC’s at .233.
