Already named a Third Team All-American by various media outlets for his outstanding play on the court this season, UNC junior forward Luke Maye added another honor to his collection on Monday–being selected as a Second Team Academic All-American for his outstanding work in the classroom.

Maye becomes just the 15th Tar Heel in program history to earn Academic All-American recognition. He joins Tyler Zeller and Marcus Paige as the only UNC Academic All-Americans since 1994, however.

A business administration major at the Kenan-Flagler Business School, the Huntersville native currently holds a 3.45 grade point average.

Maye also leads UNC in both scoring (17.2 points per game) and rebounding (10.1) so far this season, and was honored as the ACC’s Skip Prosser Award winner–which is given annually to the league’s top scholar-athlete in men’s basketball.
