With six runs combined across the seventh and eighth innings Wednesday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium, the UNC baseball team defeated Campbell 9-3, snapping a five-game losing streak.

Outfielder Angel Zarate broke the tie with a seventh-inning sacrifice fly, then Brett Centracchio doubled the lead for the Tar Heels (21-21) with a pinch-hit lead off home run to begin the home half of the eighth inning.

Dallas Tessar was later hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score one run, while Caleb Roberts drew a bases-loaded walk to add the next one.

Zarate added another sacrifice fly and Max Riemer chipped in an RBI single to complete UNC’s critical late rally.

As a team, the Tar Heels were walked a season-high eight times on Wednesday–with three of those coming in bases loaded situations.

Campbell (23-14) took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning, fell behind again and then tied it back up at 3-3 with a solo home run before the Tar Heels took over late.

UNC allowed Friday night starter Austin Love to pitch the final four innings with the team scheduled to be off this weekend, earning his sixth win of the year.
