The injury bug has struck the UNC men’s basketball team once again, as the team announced Saturday that freshman guard Jeremiah Francis–the starting point guard for each of the last three games–will miss the game against Clemson due to soreness in his left knee.

Prior to arriving at UNC, Francis missed each of his final two high school seasons and the beginning of this season after undergoing two surgeries on that same knee.

Francis made his Tar Heel debut on Dec. 8 at Virginia, and has averaged 5.9 points and three assists per game since joining the lineup.

With fellow freshmen classmates Anthony Harris and Cole Anthony already sidelined with knee injuries, this marks just the latest blow to the UNC backcourt.

Sophomore Leaky Black is slated to start against Clemson, while K.J. Smith will likely see an increase in minutes. Black will be the fourth different player to start at point guard for the Tar Heels this season.

It is unclear at this time how long Francis will be out.
