A pair of Tar Heel defensive standouts were recognized by the ACC on Monday as the Players of the Week at their respective positions following a thrilling 20-17 victory over Duke this past Saturday.
Senior Jason Strowbridge was the league’s Defensive Lineman of the Week, while junior Chazz Surratt earned the nod as the conference Linebacker of the Week.
Strowbridge posted a career-high 10 tackles–2.5 of which were for a loss–and racked up 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Surratt, meanwhile, led the team with 12 tackles and sealed the victory with an interception at the goal line with just seconds remaining. The former quarterback also had a sack in the game, one of five tallied by the Tar Heels against a Duke team which had allowed only seven through its first seven games.
