The National Field Hockey Coaches Association released its Division I All-South Region Teams on Monday, with four Tar Heels making the cut.
Three members of head coach Karen Shelton’s UNC squad–juniors Ashley Hoffman, Malin Evert and Eva Van’t Hoog–were each named to the All-South Region First Team.
Hoffman was also named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and tied with Evert atop the team scoring charts with 11 goals.
Van’t Hoog joined Evert as the one of the other main cogs in the Tar Heel midfield while contributing seven goals and 12 assists herself.
Meanwhile, senior Gab Major was a Second Team selection after leading the team in total scoring with eight goals and a team-high 14 assists.
She was also the only senior on a team that went 18-5 and reached the Final Four before ultimately losing in a penalty shootout to undefeated national champion UCONN.
It’s the second time Hoffman, Evert and Major have earned All-South Region honors in their careers. For Van’t Hoog, she has been recognized following each of her three seasons in college.
Players who are named First Team All-Region are eligible to become All-Americans.
