
With the release of the fields for the upcoming NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships on Tuesday came the news that four Tar Heels were among those selected.
William Blumberg and Brian Cernoch received the No. 2 overall seed in the doubles tournament, while Blumberg received an at-large bid to the singles tournament.
Sophomore Rinky Hijikata joined Blumberg in earning an at-large singles bid. Senior Benjamin Sigouin was chosen as an alternate for the event.
Blumberg is the only Tar Heel in school history to reach the singles quarterfinals in three consecutive years.
The NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships will take place from May 23-28 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
UNC (19-3) is currently preparing for the NCAA Team Championships, where they earned the No. 6 overall seed and will face Presbyterian in the first round on Saturday.
