Former UNC standout midfielder Katie Bowen was selected to the 23-player roster for the New Zealand national team for the upcoming 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

This will be Bowen’s second World Cup appearance with the team known as the “Football Ferns.”

In three years playing at UNC from 2013-15, Bowen scored one goal and dished out nine assists while starting 59 of the 66 games she played in.

The World Cup this year will be held from June 7 to July 7 across nine French cities, with New Zealand having a spot in Group E with Canada, the Netherlands and Cameroon.
