After scoring a hat trick in UNC’s season-opening road win over No. 7 Michigan last Friday, UNC sophomore Erin Matson was named Tuesday as the ACC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week.

Matson scored the first three goals for the Tar Heels in what was a come-from-behind 4-2 victory over the Wolverines. UNC then improved to 2-0 to begin the season with a 2-1 victory over No. 8 Iowa on Sunday.

This marks the second consecutive season that Matson–last year’s ACC Offensive Player of the Year–has won the first conference weekly honor of the year.

She and the Tar Heels return to action this Friday in Chapel Hill, when they host Princeton.
