Although each set was determined by just two points, the results were all too familiar for the struggling UNC volleyball team on Friday night at Carmichael Arena–as the Tar Heels were swept 3-0 by the rival Duke Blue Devils (23-25, 23-25, 24-26).
It was the 10th consecutive loss overall for UNC (5-17, 1-11 ACC), which has been swept in straight sets seven times during the streak.
The teams were tied on the scoreboard 26 times on Friday, with neither side able to build more than a five-point lead at any point during the match.
Duke (14-8, 8-5 ACC) ultimately was able to pull out the win, though, by virtue of its .246 hitting percentage–a number significantly better than the .154 percentage posted by the Tar Heels.
Skyler Wine led the UNC offense with nine kills, while Aristea Tontei and Destiny Cox each added six apiece.
