Following a dominant 19-6 victory over Colgate in its regular season opener this past Saturday, the UNC men’s lacrosse team swept the ACC weekly awards on Tuesday–with junior attackman Chris Gray named the Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore goalkeeper Caton Johnson earning Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Gray had four goals and two assists in his first game with the Tar Heels since transferring from Boston University, while Johnson made nine saves and allowed only two goals before heading to the bench with the game well in hand.
All of Gray’s goals came in the first quarter, making him the first UNC player to score four goals in a quarter since Luke Goldstock did it against Notre Dame in the 2017 ACC Championship Game.
Johnson, meanwhile, is currently the NCAA leader with a save percentage of .818.
