UNC senior linebacker Chazz Surratt was recognized Tuesday by Street and Smith’s magazine as a Preseason First Team All-American heading into the upcoming 2020 season.
Surratt transitioned to linebacker prior to the 2019 campaign after having spent the first two years of his college career as a quarterback. He ended the season–his first as a defensive player–with a team-high 115 tackles to go along with 6.5 sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery.
In addition, he earned First Team All-ACC honors and got second place in voting for ACC Defensive Player of the Year behind Clemson standout Isaiah Simmons.
This represents the first All-American honor of any kind for Surratt.
