After neither team scored a single run through nine innings on Tuesday night at Boshamer Stadium, Charlotte broke through with four runs in the 10th frame on the way to a 4-1 victory over UNC.
The Tar Heels (20-18) received an RBI single in the home half of the 10th frame from Dallas Tessar, but that would not be enough to avoid suffering yet another mid-week loss–the team’s fifth in eight tries this season.
Charlotte (30-11) used a bases-loaded triple to go up 3-0 in the 10th, then added a sacrifice fly as an insurance run.
The sixth inning had previously seen UNC work the bases loaded, but the Tar Heels failed to produce any kind of scoring with that opportunity–which ultimately proved to be the difference.
