UNC senior wide receiver Beau Corrales was named Wednesday to the watch list for this year’s Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, which is given annually to the top offensive college football player with ties to the state of Texas.

Eligibility for the award requires a player to have been either born in Texas, have graduated from a Texas high school or played at a Texas-based junior college or Division I college.

Corrales, who caught a career-high 40 passes for 575 yards and six touchdowns last season, is a native of Georgetown, Texas.

In addition to on-field performance, the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award also recognizes those who display the enduring characteristics that define legendary NFL Hall-of-Famer Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.

Corrales has been battling Type 1 diabetes for the majority of his life, but has still managed to excel on the football field despite that constant struggle.
