UNC junior Austin Hitt was one of 16 players named to the All-ACC Men’s Golf team on Wednesday, the first time in his career he has picked up the honor.
Hitt’s stroke average of 70.78 is the lowest ever by a Tar Heel in a single season, while his career average of 72.14 is second in program history behind Class of 2018 graduate Ben Griffin.
Golfstat ranks Hitt as the No. 38 overall player in the nation.
So far this year, he has placed second in the Tar Heel Intercollegiate, fourth in San Diego and sixth twice among five top-10 finishes overall.
“Our entire team is thrilled for Austin,” UNC head coach Andrew DiBitetto. “Players desire to get better and desire to be great, but few do the things necessary to take their game to higher levels. Austin committed himself to improving and being an elite player this year. He still has room to improve, but he’s been tremendous and absolutely has earned the right to be recognized as one of the best in a deep and talented ACC.”
