The UNC men’s golf team, just a few months removed from its second straight fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championship earlier this summer, revealed its 2022-23 season schedule Thursday afternoon.

UNC’s first event of the fall will be the Fighting Irish Classic, to be played at the Warren Golf Course on the campus of Notre Dame in South Bend. The Olympia Fields Invitational in Illinois and the Williams Cup (named after former UNC basketball coach Roy Williams) in Wilmington, N.C. are also on the fall schedule. Carolina won both of those tournaments last season.

The spring season will see the Tar Heels rack up frequent flyer miles. Carolina will play tournaments in Hawaii, Las Vegas and Florida all in the span of less than two months. UNC’s last tournament of the regular season will be the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate in Arizona on April 14 and 15.

The ACC Championship begins on April 21 at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst. NCAA Regionals are scheduled for May 15 through May 17, before the NCAA Championship begins on May 26. Like in 2022, the 2023 championship will be played at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ.

“Our tournament schedule this year is incredible,” said UNC head coach Andrew DiBitetto. “Our guys will test their games on some of the best courses in the country, including ones that have hosted PGA Tour tournaments, major championships and a Walker Cup. We will compete against the best teams in the country on a regular basis. Our strength of schedule should be near the very top at the end of the year. We can’t wait to get started.”

UNC returns four of its five golfers who competed in the NCAA Championship: Ryan Burnett, David Ford, Peter Fountain and Austin Greaser. Pepperdine transfer and former NCAA champion Dylan Menante will join the team. Each of those five golfers is also competing in this month’s U.S. Amateur Championship in New Jersey. Greaser is the defending runner-up in the event.
