Former UNC star pitcher J.B. Bukauskas officially made his major league debut on Tuesday night for the Arizona Diamondbacks in a game against the Cincinnati Reds.

The former 2017 first-round draft pick came out of the bullpen in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs and runners on first and second base.

Bukauskas then got Reds’ center fielder Nick Senzel to fly out, ending the inning.

Arizona scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a 5-4 lead, before the game was suspended due to rain.

Bukauskas’ debut also came on the same night that former UNC teammate Zac Gallen started on the mound for the Diamondbacks, throwing the first 5.2 innings while striking out six hitters and allowing three earned runs.

The duo represented the top two arms on the Tar Heel rotation during the 2016 season.
