Five Tar Heels tallied two or more RBIs, six crossed home play two times or more, and five saw extra-base hits. Carolina got on the board first when sophomore second-baseman Mike Zolk flied out to center scoring senior first-baseman Cody Stubbs in the bottom of the second. The Tar Heels turned on the heat in the fifth, seventh, and eighth innings scoring three, eight, and four runs respectively. Despite the high score, UNC still left 11 runners on base as the team hit just less than .500, 15-38. On the year, Carolina has a .431 on-base percentage. Junior third-baseman Colin Moran had a busy night at the plate batting 4-6 with two runs, two RBIs, and his fourth double of the year. With the win, Carolina improved to 19-1; Princeton fell to 1-11. The Tar Heels take their 5-1 conference mark on the road to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts this weekend to take on the 0-6 Boston College Eagles. First pitch for Friday’s game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. with games on Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and 12:00 noon. |
