A former conference foe will be suiting up for the Tar Heels next season.

On Tuesday morning, former Louisville Cardinal Jae’Lyn Withers announced his intention to transfer to Carolina and play for head coach Hubert Davis next season.

This season, Withers averaged 8.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for the Cardinals. But the stat that will most intrigue Tar Heel fans was his 41.7 percent three-point percentage, the best of his three-year college career. The 6-8 wing from Charlotte was also efficient from the foul line, shooting 73.5 percent on free throws. Withers scored eight points in Louisville’s home loss to Carolina this past season.

Despite being in the same recruiting class as UNC fifth-year center Armando Bacot, Withers will have two years of eligibility with Carolina due to redshirting his true freshman season. Since then, he’s started 64 games for Louisville and averaged at least 18 minutes per game in each of his three seasons.

Withers is the second transfer to join Carolina this season, joining Brown’s Paxson Wojcik.
