Angelo Brizzi, who spent the 2025-26 season with Buffalo, reportedly committed to head coach Michael Malone and UNC out of the transfer portal Wednesday. Inside Carolina first reported the news.

UNC will be Brizzi’s fifth school in five years. The guard began his career at Villanova in 2022 – entering college in the same class as Seth Trimble – and redshirted his lone year with the Wildcats. Brizzi then played for Davidson in 2023-24, Longwood in 2024-25 and then Buffalo in 2025-26. His redshirt junior season with the Bulls was by far his most productive, as Brizzi started all 32 of his team’s games and averaged career highs in points (14.5 per game), assists (1.8 per game) while also posting a career-best 83.4 free throw percentage. Buffalo finished the 2025-26 season 17-15 overall and 7-11 in the Mid-American Conference.

A productive three-point shooter, Brizzi shot 38.4 percent from long distance across his past two seasons with Longwood and Buffalo. He shot 40.2 percent on 2.6 attempts per game with the Lancers in 2024-25. Brizzi’s percentage dipped slightly to 37.3 percent the next season, but his attempts also increased to 4.2 per game.

Originally from Warrenton, VA, the six-foot-three Brizzi took an unofficial visit to UNC in 2019, according to Inside Carolina’s reporting. After he entered the transfer portal following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, Brizzi reportedly was heavily recruited by Gonzaga before ultimately choosing the Tar Heels.

Brizzi joins a retooled UNC roster in Malone’s first year as head coach. He will be the 10th newcomer to join the program in the 2026-27 season and the fifth to do so from the transfer portal. For a full list of the new faces arriving in Chapel Hill, click here.
