Several transfers have announced their intentions to join head coach Hubert Davis and UNC next season. Here’s a list of those incoming players:

Ivan Matlekovic – High Point

A seven-footer originally from Croatia, Matlekovic played in just five games during his only season with High Point. He joined the Tar Heels late in the offseason, confirming his commitment the night of July 31.

The first international commitment of the Hubert Davis-Jim Tanner era, Luka Bogavac was one of the top college-eligible players in Europe that college teams had an eye on this offseason. The 6-foot-5 guard averaged nearly 15 points per game this past season in the ABA League — where he played for SC Derby in his home country of Montenegro — which was good enough to be among its top scorers despite being only 21 years old. For a team seeking some long-range shooting, Bogavac might be the answer. He averaged nearly 40% on three-pointers in the 2024-25 season while taking more than five per game, and set career highs across other key categories like rebounds, assists, and minutes.

Jaydon Young – Virginia Tech

Young comes to the Tar Heels following two seasons at Virginia Tech in which he appeared in 58 games and started 10. His best run of play with the Hokies came in the final six games of the 2024-25 season, in which he averaged more than 16 points per game and reached the 20-point plateau twice. Now, the Goldsboro, N.C. native is coming back to his home state. He will have two years of eligibility with the Tar Heels.

Jarin Stevenson – Alabama

A star at Pittsboro’s Seaforth High School, Stevenson’s initial commitment to Alabama came as a shock to many UNC fans. But after two years with the Crimson Tide – during which they appeared in the Final Four and beat the Tar Heels twice – Stevenson is coming back home. The 6-foot-11 forward averaged 5.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in Tuscaloosa. He will have two years of eligibility with Carolina.

Jonathan Powell – West Virginia

After spending just one season at West Virginia, Powell hit the transfer portal. But the rising sophomore still provided plenty of reasons for optimism in his lone year as a Mountaineer. The six-foot-six wing rained in 64 three-pointers and shot 35 percent from downtown, both of which ranked him among the top freshmen in the Big 12 Conference. Originally from Dayton, OH, Powell averaged 8.3 points per game. He will have three years of eligibility remaining in Chapel Hill.

Henri Veesaar – Arizona

A seven-footer from Estonia, Veesaar immediately solves the size problems which plagued the Tar Heels during the 2024-25 season. As a redshirt sophomore at Arizona, Veesaar appeared in all 37 of the Wildcats’ games during the 2024-25 campaign while starting five. He ranked fourth among his teammates in scoring (9.4 points per game) and led the Wildcats in rebounding (5.0 per game). Elsewhere, Veesaar averaged 1.1 blocked shots per game and shot 68.6 percent on free throws. He will have two years of eligibilty remaining.

Kyan Evans – Colorado State

A six-foot-two guard from Kansas City who started all 36 of his team’s games during the 2024-25 season, Evans was critical in Colorado State’s late-season surge which saw the Rams win the Mountain West Tournament and upset No. 5 seed Memphis in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Against the Tigers, Evans scored 23 points and made six three-pointers without committing a single turnover. For the season, Evans shot nearly 45 percent from long distance. He will have two years of eligibility in Chapel Hill.
