A three-RBI day from Casey Cook and solid pitching from Kyle Percival helped the Diamond Heels pound Radford 14-2 at Boshamer Stadium Tuesday afternoon.

Cook’s productive day at the plate was just part of a well-rounded offensive attack, one which saw Carolina bash 12 hits and draw nine walks off Highlander pitching. Cook’s three runs batted in were most among all hitters, but Vance Honeycutt, Joe Jaconski, Tmas Frick, Hunter Stokeley and Jackson Van De Brake each contributed a pair as well. Honeycutt drew two of Carolina’s nine walks to up his total to seven on the young season. He’s drawn at least one free pass in all four games played.

Van De Brake, like Honeycutt before him, is making good on his first year as a Diamond Heel. The transfer from Tacoma Community College opened the scoring with a two-RBI single in the bottom of the second, kicking off a six-run rally for Carolina that blew the game open early.

Those six runs were more than enough for Percival, who went five strong innings while giving up just three hits, one run and striking out six. Four relievers each pitched an inning to finish out the game, combining to allow just one hit and striking out nine more Highlander batters.

The win moves Carolina to 3-1 on the season. The team will be right back in action on Wednesday night when it hosts Longwood at Boshamer Stadium at 4 p.m.
