UNC pitcher Caden Glauber took home another individual honor Tuesday, as D1Baseball named him its National Freshman of the Year.

Glauber, who played the 2026 season at UNC during what should have been his senior year in high school, finished the season with a 12-0 record and a 2.05 earned run average, helping the Diamond Heels reach the Men’s College World Series finals for the first time since 2007. Carolina accrued a 29-1 record in the 30 games in which Glauber pitched.

Among all ACC pitchers, Glauber ranked first in ERA, second in opposing batting average (.186), second in innings pitched (97.1), second in strikeouts (122), first in wins and third in fewest runs allowed (26). He was named first team All-ACC and the ACC’s Freshman of the Year, becoming the first UNC player to win that award since Aaron Sabato in 2019. Glauber also shared Perfect Game’s National Freshman Pitcher of the Year award with Sam Cozart of Texas.

Glauber appeared in seven of UNC’s 12 NCAA Tournament games and pitched 22 innings in total, allowing only six earned runs across those appearances. He started Carolina’s Super Regional Game 3 win against USC, logging 7.1 innings and setting a new season high for any UNC pitcher by striking out 11 Trojan batters.

Glauber is the first UNC pitcher ever to earn a National Freshman of the Year honor. He’s also the first pitcher to be named D1Baseball’s National Freshman of the Year since Tennessee’s Chase Burns in 2022.
