With seven Tar Heels entering the transfer portal since the end of the 2022-23 season, head coach Hubert Davis has plenty of holes to fill on the UNC men’s basketball roster. Here’s a complete list of which transfers Davis and the Tar Heels have brought on to join the team next season:

F James Okonkwo – West Virginia

A late addition to the portal, Okonkwo decided to leave West Virginia after the resignation of head coach Bob Huggins in June. In two seasons with the Mountaineers, Okonkwo appeared in 34 games (31 of which came last season) and averaged 2.5 points and 3.2 rebounds per game as a sophomore. He will have two years of eligibility with the Tar Heels.

F Harrison Ingram – Stanford

One of the most coveted transfers in the portal, Ingram is a former five-star recruit who played two seasons at Stanford and started more than 60 games. The versatile wing averaged 10.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game with the Cardinal and was named the Pac-12 Rookie of the Year after the 2021-22 season. He also has a connection to Chapel Hill: his head coach at Stanford, Jerod Haase, was a longtime assistant coach for the Tar Heels under Roy Williams and helped win the 2005 and 2009 NCAA championships. Ingram will have two years of eligibility remaining.

G Cormac Ryan – Notre Dame

The 2023-24 season will be Ryan’s sixth in college basketball. He played a season at Stanford before transferring to Notre Dame (under since-abolished rules, Ryan had to sit out one season with the Irish after transferring). Ryan shot 40 percent on three-pointers as a redshirt junior in 2021-22 while leading Notre Dame to a second-place finish in the ACC regular-season standings and two NCAA Tournament wins. He also shot at least 80 percent on free throws in each of his three seasons with the Irish. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

F Jae’Lyn Withers – Louisville

A former in-conference foe, Withers joins Carolina after playing three seasons at Louisville and redshirting another. Thus, despite being the same age as UNC’s fifth-year center Armando Bacot, Withers has two seasons of eligibility remaining. The 6-8 wing from Charlotte shot 41.7 percent on three-pointers last season, a stat sure to raise the eyebrows of Carolina fans everywhere. Withers is an experienced starter at the ACC level, starting 64 games across three seasons for Louisville. He’s a name to watch to fill in the hole left by four-year starter Leaky Black, who is out of collegiate eligibility.

G Paxson Wojcik – Brown

The son of a former UNC assistant coach, Wojcik brings a family connection to Chapel Hill. He also brings proficient scoring and shooting: last season with Brown, Wojcik averaged 14.9 points per game and shot 38 percent on three-pointers. In four seasons playing college basketball, Wojcik has never once shot below 50 percent on his two-point shots. He also has experience playing in Chapel Hill, being part of the Brown team which took Carolina to the wire in the second regular-season game of the Hubert Davis era. Wojcik scored 14 points in the 94-87 Carolina victory.
