The UNC volleyball team has released its schedule for the 2023 regular season, the program’s first under new head coach Mike Schall. Schall is replacing Joe Sagula, who retired this offseason after 33 seasons with the Tar Heels.

Schall’s first test with Carolina will see the team travel to the desert for the Cactus Classic in Tucson, AZ, hosted by the University of Arizona. The Tar Heels will face Pacific and Arizona in a season-opening doubleheader on August 25, then face UC-Davis the next day.

UNC’s home opener is on August 31 against West Virginia at 6 p.m. in Carmichael Arena. Other highlights of the non-conference slate include back-to-back road tilts at Michigan and Michigan State on September 8 and 10.

The Tar Heels will open ACC play by hosting Virginia in Chapel Hill on September 22 at 6 p.m. 2022 national semifinalist Pittsburgh visits two days later. Carolina will also host last season’s national runners-up Louisville on October 6 at 6 p.m., then visit the Cardinals on November 12.

The schedule also features three rivalry clashes with Duke and NC State. Carolina will travel to Durham to face the Blue Devils on October 25 at 6:30 p.m. UNC will host the Wolfpack four days later at 1 p.m., but will not face NC State on the road this season. The Tar Heels will host Duke on Senior Night on November 24 at 2 p.m.
