Another guard out of the transfer portal will be joining the UNC women’s basketball program next season. Trayanna Crisp, who spent the previous two seasons at Arizona State, committed to head coach Courtney Banghart and the Tar Heels on Sunday. Crisp has two years of eligibility remaining.

Crisp started 35 total games for the Sun Devils, 28 of which came last season. Crisp’s production more than doubled between her freshman and sophomore seasons, as her scoring increased from 5.4 points per game to 12.1. She also improved her three-point shooting from 23.7 percent as a freshman to 33.3 percent as a sophomore, on double the amount of attempts per game. Crisp ranked second on her team in assists per game with 2.1.

Crisp is from Goodyear, Arizona and went to Millennium High School, the same school which produced former Tar Heel Ali Zelaya. Crisp is the second player to commit to the women’s basketball program out of the portal, after Richmond guard Grace Townsend did so on April 8. She joins a UNC backcourt which is losing four-year starter Deja Kelly and sophomore Paulina Paris, but returns Reniya Kelly, Kayla McPherson, Lexi Donarski and Indya Nivar. Freshmen Jordan Zubich and Lanie Grant are set to join the program this summer as well.
