A female was reportedly robbed and assaulted on the UNC campus just before 10:30 Tuesday night.
An Alert Carolina message from UNC said police are investigating the report that a female was “approached by a male suspect, who assaulted her and took an amount of cash.”
Police are describing the suspect as a black male in his late 30s, estimated to be 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches with a slim build and short hair. The suspect was wearing a red jacket and blue jeans at the time of the incident and reportedly fled the scene on foot toward South Columbia Street.
Police say that no weapon was involved in the alleged assault and robbery.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call UNC Police and if anyone sees suspicious activity, you are encouraged to call 911.
