There have now been 11 arrests since the Confederate monument known as Silent Sam was pulled down on the UNC – Chapel Hill campus on Monday.
The bulk of those arrests came as seven protesters were arrested when opposing groups – those supporting the toppling of the monument and those upset the statue was pulled down – both gathered on the campus around the remaining Confederate monument pedestal on Saturday.
One individual was arrested the night the statue was pulled down. Ian Broadhead is facing charges for concealing one’s face during a public rally and resisting arrest. He was arrested well before the statue was pulled down.
Warrants for three others were announced on Friday and those suspects were arrested on Saturday, according to law enforcement. Jonathan Fitzgerald Fuller, 27, Lauren Aucoin, 23, and Raul Arce, 27, were all charged with misdemeanor riot and misdemeanor defacing of a public monument.
Of the seven arrests on Saturday, Danielle Shochet and Barry Brown were charged with simple assault, John Quick was charged with assault, Kristin Emory was charged with resisting arrest, Alexander Joustra and Lillian Laura Price were charged with damage to property and Thomas Bruefach was arrested for resisting arrest and inciting a public disturbance.
None of the 11 who have been arrested are affiliated with the university, campus officials said in an update on Saturday night.
UNC Police said the investigation is ongoing into Monday night’s events and additional arrests could occur.
The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting UNC Police in the investigation.

lets not forget the the war crimes committed against the southern people !
If you are arrested the police take your picture. Where are their faces that they try to hide when destroying history. Lets see them
Since when is destruction of property a misdemeanor? Shouldn’t the charges be based on the value of the property in question?
It is supposed to be based on the value and whether it is affecting the public.
America is a nation of Laws. If citizens wish to change our laws there is a procedure.
PLEASE PROSECUTE AND PUNISH THESE CLOWNS !!!!
These people haven’t got the stomach or nerve to come her to Mt. Rushmore and start trouble. If they did, they’d have a welcoming committee of Federal Marshals.
North Carolina… gone PC…. I never would have thought it could happen… “ The Old North State “ ought to drop the “ Tarheel” nickname earned on the battlefields…. “ University Administrators. “ won’t be rushed into a decision about Silent Sam”. I’m sure they won’t! We are no longer a Nation of Laws…. we are a Nation of sheep… cowering under the gaze of “big brother media”
One of my kids was a “ Tarheel” thanks to our family business… the United States Marine Corps.
It was a proud thing…. no longer. Roll over to the Liberal Mob mentality…..you deserve what you get down the road. D.L. Combs. USMC ( Ret)

If history is destroyed, our American children cannot learn from it. This is a dangerous thing for the future of America. History cannot be altered, but young people can be brainwashed into forgetting it, or not learning about it. That is what Adolf Hitler attempted in Nazi Germany.
“In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, ‘Make us your slaves, but feed us.'”

Seem to me, those crimes committed against “””THE SOUTHERN PEOPLE “” should start being held as “””HATE CRIMES!!!!””” Thus demands mush more harsh/serious charges!!!!
IF this isn’t gonna be considered/made into a “”HATE CRIME LAW””
Then, I hole heartedly believe, that THE SOUTH SHOULD SEPARATE INTO IT’S OWN COUNTRY!!!! We should NOT have to be ridiculed over EVERYTHING, SOUTHERN ACCENT, STRONG BELIEVE IN THE LORD, AS WE ARE KNOWN AS “”THE BIBLE BELT”” AS WELL AS A VERY HIGH REGARD FOR RESPECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
