The Rams Club and the Carolina Kids Club are hosting a drive through Halloween — or “Heeloween” — celebration on Saturday.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., parents and kids can drive by the Dean E. Smith Center (450 Skipper Bowles Dr.) for the socially-distant event. If you come dressed in your Halloween costume, you’ll receive a Halloween treat bag from UNC mascots Rameses and RJ courtesy of the Carolina Kids Club. Kids Club members may also pick up their 2020 t-shirt at the event.
Due to health guidelines, treat bags will only be distributed to fans inside vehicles. Walk-ups will not be permitted.
Distribution staff will follow all health guidelines, including social distancing and wearing masks.
As Halloween approaches, Chapel Hill officials are encouraging residents to find safe alternatives to traditional holiday celebrations this year. The town announced at the start of October it would not be closing Franklin Street with law enforcement to allow community members to walk around the downtown road in costumes Halloween night.
“We know people want to celebrate,” Mayor Pam Hemminger recently told 97.9 The Hill’s Aaron Keck, “but Halloween is going to be different this year. We’re not going to be closing down the streets downtown unless there’s a safety precaution to do so. We want people to find other creative ways to celebrate.”
