****UPDATE: Traffic has started flowing normally through the section of I-40 impacted by the earlier wreck.****
A crash on I-40 near exit 270 has closed one westbound lane Friday afternoon and is causing delays.
North Carolina Department of Transportation officials reported the wreck near the 15-501 exit just before 12:40 Friday afternoon and early estimates show that it could take approximately two hours for the lane to be reopened for normal traffic flow.
Traffic is slowed but is continuing to move on the two remaining westbound lanes.
There is no information as of this posting detailing the severity of the wreck.
