There will be a notion of solidarity between cross-town rivals on the football field Friday night in Orange County.

Officials from Cedar Ridge High School posted on the school’s Twitter page earlier this week that the football team would be wearing Orange #22 stickers on their helmets Friday night when the Red Wovles take on the Orange High Panthers. The stickers are meant as a show of support for Thys Oldenburg, who is in a medically induced coma and has undergone multiple brain surgeries after being injured in a junior varsity football game for Orange High earlier this month.

Community organizers have held several events to support Oldenburg and have more planned, including a barbecue fundraiser scheduled for 5-7 pm Saturday, October 28, in the parking lot at Orange High School.

A GoFundMe page has been established by Oldenburg’s aunt to help pay for medical bills incurred as part of Oldenburg’s treatment and recovery.
